earth quake?

September 30, 2009

At 6.15pm, I felt the ceiling was moving. I thought it was just the contraction and expansion of the building. But both Jan and I looked at each other, wonder if it was earth quake. Subsequently we felt the slight giddiness, so I walked to Ms Lala’s room ask if she felt it too. She claimed nothing. In that split second, our vision literally shook. I squatted immediately (what I'd do when going thru' a turbulence).

Jaycee came running outta her room and asked “do you feel it too?”

Everyone dropped their work and evacuate immediately.
I know we were kia su, hey, rather be kia si (safe) than sorry, I think.

Look at the people that vacate their offices. See! We are not the only kia si here.

Thank God, we are all safe in Singapore.....

Change

September 29, 2009

World’s changing. People’s changing.

Where were all the innocent people?

When everything was once so genuine
When a group of juvenile, stayed over-night at airport for self-claim study session
When only fun was on the list
When all were carefree
When all were crazy
When all would skip school and watch Thunder bird
When paper bullets were made to shoot at teachers (I know that’s bad)
When organizing BBQ & chalet were never a hassle
When all would help each other financially with their minimum
When cycling and camping at Pulau Ubin was their adventure
When roller-blading was awesome
When showing off one’s wealth and accomplishment were never the chatting topic
When driving was a luxury
When one can survive without sleep for 3 days 3 nights (ok, that maybe a bit too much)
When parents would track you down if you miss your curfew
When all would laugh their heart out while watching Stephen Chow’s movie
And mimic after him
When sun-tanning and beach volley ball were the weekly activities
When 3 girls would cry at the same time, not knowing who to handle 1st
When 3 would hopped on a buggy to watch sun rise
When the New Year party was at Cavemen
And the Chinese New Year party was at Phuture, Zouk
When favourite drinks there were “sex-on-the-beach”
When everyone would get high and be merry …
When you knew you always have someone if you need to talk

When there were only us

Girls that don't play cards

September 28, 2009

den has fully recovered from the swells and pain of the extraction of his wisdom teeth (becos’ 4 were extracted). I believed he had great fun at his friend’s house warming yesterday, he has been yearning those long lost house-filled laughter they once had. Turn out, I was the one who didn’t go. I found better things to do, like girls’ outing. Rather than watching a gang of black jack players laying their odds. How exciting .. !

I decided to ask my girlfriends (who weren’t interested in the game / nor being the players' maid serving drinks & food) out to blooie for a weight gaining session. We totally had fun catching up, not fearing our partners would eavesdrop our girly talk. of cos, shiraz joined us.

Girlfriends are always important, make time for each other. Friendship needs to be cultivated.

I went to see den after work and had dinner at Ng’s kitchen. His swollen cheeks were obvious, look as if he was being punched repeatedly on the same spot (minus the bruises) or had gained a few kilos overnight. He had been on fluid diet. Hope he’ll recover before Sunday for the house warming.

I am fat this week, haven’t been running, let alone my regular gym session. Really need to workout tomorrow, 1 hour, at least an hr of jog !

Goodnight

The Unfortunate “Event”

September 23, 2009

I shall call this my unpleasant week. Road closure started this morning, and traffic was terrible, many vehicles had to detour, making life once again miserable. Going to work every morning is already dreadful, with this, is like adding oil to fire. Especially I’m working at this part of Singapore right in the centre of The F1 event. Look, I am not bragging about the good view I have, but complaining.. I totally not a F1 fan, in fact, I hate this event.

road blocks, detour, slow moving traffic.. good enough to fuss abt

I know I shan’t rant about this - such an awesome and breathtaking race when everybody is looking forward to. I seriously can’t think of any positive point to credit it. As a matter of fact, it’s wasting resources.

The amount of electricity use e.g. lights, sound system, etc. Aren’t we supposed to save energy? What about Global warming? Sadly, no one remembers once the race start. Air pollution – exhaust fumes produce by the machines! And of course, littering too. Tons and tons of rubbish after each race. Perhaps our country is not polluted enough compared to others, huh?

I know, how much I complain and dislike, nothing is going to change becos’ to the views of those business men (whoever the organizers are), this is a revenue generator from advertising, promotion, tourism and many more (can’t be bothered to find out what else).

♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣

den went to extract his wisdom tooth today, can’t believe he extracted 4 at one go. My hero !! I can never do that, it’s horrifying. When ask if it hurt? He said its more of discomfort. I really want to call him, but he can’t talk, can only msn / sms. Poor baby…

I still have 2 left. Hope I’ll never have to touch them.

Goodnight

Getzzzz leaves Singapore

September 22, 2009

The long-awaited long weekend is finally over ! I so unwillingly drag myself to work this morning

Worst of all! Late … Luckily, Ms Lala was in good mood

My weekend wasn’t a boring one. To get my butt off the couch and do something, I went on a shopping trip with den and members’ of the Ng’s kitchen on Sunday. It turned out to be quite fruitful - food, shopping and laughter. After choosing between - shopping at JB or zoo, I suppose, no one would say ‘no’ to shopping. Hehe.

We decided to drive there for the 1st time, since there were 5 of us. Car theft is always our biggest worry, but come to think of it, our getz is not some luxurious or branded car. There were even better ones to aim for...

on my way to fetch den then to woodlands

The jam took us an hour or more (all thanks, to the never-finished construction work at the custom) to reach our destination. I was told, it’s gonna stay stagnant like this due to the disagreements between 2 countries on the construction cost. Guess, those that have to use the custom daily will need to wait patiently for this problem to resolve. Imagine, the time wasted on travelling, better think of a way to utilize it. Mayb can learn a foreign language?

Unknowingly we needed a “touch n go” card for the car toll at Johor’s custom, and were kind of panic and embarrass as we didn’t have one, also not wanting to cause inconvenience to others. Luckily, they foresee this problem, and help arrived shortly. We were made to buy the card at 10RM. Do get ready all your cards before setting off.

We were famished by the time we arrive and rushed straight into lunch. Everyone agreed on Japanese food without thinking too much.

you can tell how hungry we were.. it was definately a heavy lunch

Shopping was next on the list, follow by massage….

Look what I bought from my 2 favourite stores;

Love these female boxers from F.O.S

clothes from seeds

I didn’t buy a lot this time, cos’ there weren’t many interesting stuff. We bought mooncakes too. One of my happy food ! *fat fat fat*

We were exhausted after 5 hrs of shopping, and needed to pamper our feet badly, but the massage place at City Sq were fully booked. How disappointing ! ok, it was our fault for not booking it in advance. We then drove back to Singapore, this time the jam wasn’t so bad. Singapore custom always efficient, they opened the area for trucks and lorries (I reckon, must be due to holiday season, lesser trucks / lorries would travel) to cars to minimize waiting time.

waiting for our turn ......

den then sent me home to pick shiraz up, and ended our day at Changi village for dinner.

♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣

Last week, I signed up for the course which had been discussed over and over. I’m excited and heartache at the same time cos’ it’s gonna dig a huge hole in my saving account. But no pain, no gain, I will trust Him that He will mend this hole in no time and it shall multiply 60-folds ! 100-folds!

My unofficial P.H

September 18, 2009

Yesterday, I decided to give myself an unofficial break. My day wasn’t wasted by sleeping it away, like usual. In fact, even napping didn’t occur at all, knowing that beauty sleep is what I need most ever since my lifestyle is back to normal. After the “what-had-to-be-done” (an open secret) for this unofficial off day, I visited Sharon at her shop for an hr or so of brain-storming then headed to get my key (to the box of ET8) fixed.

When I arrived there, I couldn’t believe the shop wasn’t open! It was 1pm ! Argh! But I kept telling myself “I had to get it done! I had to get it done today!”. Despite, the heat of noon and desperate to go home, I gritted my teeth and rode to Tampines. After attempting 2 places, which 1 had already shifted - nowhere to be found, and the other didn’t have the key that fit. I was so going to give up and thinking to ride all the way to Jln Besar where I’m 100% sure mission would accomplish. Thank God, my persistent paid off, after seeking information from the nearby shops, I found this key cutting stall situated before Tampines MRT station, which had just the right key size;

there aren't many places that had this kinda key size

Dinner time : I managed to get den, WJ out for dinner with me, and Mich joined us later

one of my favourite place - East coast hawker

Look at the amount of food we ordered...

I was one happy girl, but more workout coming up...

Goodnight, get ready for work tomorrow.

Rascal, Shiraz

September 17, 2009

Introducing my beloved rascal

Today, I was browsing thru' a bunch of old photos, and came across this pic of Shiraz snoozing on a couch. He is one lucky pooch, from an abandon dog to a little terror of the house. Both my parents love him to the core so as Den’s family. Yes, he was adopted 3 years ago by me on a forum. Since I got home from my 2.5 years working oversea, I decided to get myself in trouble of having a pet. My sis-in-law, an animal lover, suggested adoption, due to rising numbers of homeless animals that needed our attention.
After searching and reading on forums for almost a month, I found this naughty yet adorable, rascal.

If anyone wants to get into trouble by owning a pet, Pleassssee adopt. You will get appreciated in return, I promise.

Have a rainbow-ed day !

Introduction

September 16, 2009

Finally my blog is up, with the help of an extra pair of hands for the design, colours and graphic to enhance visual comfort. Personally, I like it alot.

I guess the 1st post is the most difficult, to me, at least. I've been wanted to set up my very own blog for almost a year, especially with my interest of snapping pictures of food and the bits and pieces of what I see. It was my limitation of English which puts it on hold. But most of my friends are blogging, hey what the heck man. Moreover, we only live once. Let's do whatever we feel is right before time runs out.

So here I go....
